I just started up an album on Vimeo called “Emotional Experiments“. Neil was talking about starting one up and I’ve been itching to shoot and edit my own videos for a while. But as we all know, committing time to any self-motivated project can be tough to do sometimes.

It isn’t a masterpiece, but its an exercise on what I can shoot, edit, composite, color-correct and encode in about 4-5 hours. I didn’t use the steadycam, so the footage is pretty shaky. Shot on an HVX200 and used Final Cut, After Effects and Motion.

Check it out. I added a little surprise.

Cinema 4D Music and Motion Test

Here are a couple motion tests I did a while back using Maxon Cinema 4D. I’ve been using C4D whenever I need to dive into building anything that requires 3D rendering or animation. I love the program and it’s been fairly easy to pick up due to the fantastic GUI. The star of the show has got to be the stacking layer system, allowing users to easily add modifiers, shaders, properties, etc to objects and keep track of them through the intuitive tree view.

In the past couple of months I’ve been getting my hands dirty with Unity3D and Box2D. I gotta tell you, Physics engines are a lot of fun. Back in school days, I wasn’t very good at physics. If the prof asked “How long does it take an object to get from A to B?” I would say, “Who the F… cares? As long as it gets there.” Anyways I wanna apologize to my prof and if he’s out there and reads my post, I would like to say that “PHYSICS IS COOL”. There I said it. Geek out Prof!!!

Marketers continuing the shift from Traditional to Digital

Forrester just released a survey about the continuing growth of digital media at the expense of traditional marketing channels, with 6 out of ten marketers surveyed planning an increase in to digital marketing budgets, a shift from money out of traditional marketing.

In the survey, the increase in digital over the next 5 years by media:

Social Media (34%)
Mobile Marketing (27%)
Online Display Ads (17%)
Search Marketing (15%)
email (11%)

This research fits with another recent Nielsen report from June, showing that Facebook, probably the biggest site in social media, had the highest time spent of all web brands, including AOL, MSN, Google, Yahoo!, etc. Twitter is also having an incredible rise, with millions of 140-character updates being posted daily. Marketers are scrambling to develop campaigns to implement the two into current media plans. Speidlberg, if and when you produce Minority Report 2, make sure Tommy boy knows his #hashtags.
