Happy Birfday Rival Schools

Three years ago we began on a notion that we could start a new kind of digital agency, one that felt right for us. An agency fueled by strong creative and backed by a team of unique and talented individuals capable of capitalizing on existing and emerging technologies to deliver award-winning digital experiences. Despite the worst recession of our lifetime, we are extremely proud of what we managed to accomplish. We designed a successful platform, created several entertaining and noteworthy games, help some major brands sell more of their major products and had fun along the way.

So to everyone who has taken a chance and put their faith in Rival Schools, we thank you. Cheers.

Rival Schools will like to wish our beloved Kaylee a happy 10th birthday. Kaylee oversees our daily operations at Rival Schools. Depending on the day, this ranges from researching the most comfortable spot on the couch to implementing proper procedural standards when greeting the FedEx guy.

Thanks for your dedication and hard work.

Currently at the Vancity Theatre enjoying the intro part of the presentation. It’s the presentation for Watchmen Revealed brought by Siggraph. The just mentioned the OperaBot contest and how to enter. Great place to promote a contest geared towards animators of all types. Can’t wait for the panel to start!

OperaBOT Animation Contest

The Vancouver Opera is doing an online animation contest called “OperaBot”. Rival Schools did the character design for the OperaBot mascot and also has the opportunity to participate as a member of the judges panel for this contest. I must say that it is a great honor for us to be on the same panel with representation from Pixar, Bardel, EA and Rainmaker.

The contest has already started, so you can start submitting for it. The last day for submission is November 1, 2009. The prizes are great and well worth the exposure if you’re into animation.

Rival Schools is please to announce an agreement with the Ashy Agency as our exclusive broadcast representation. Headed by Brett ‘That’s My Name on the Door’ Ashy, the Agency represents the likes of nailgun*, Roger, Belief Design and Spillt – all thoroughbred stablemates.

As the Chairman of the Board of Governors for the Broadcast Design Association (BDA), and former Director of Business Development for Troika Design Group, Ashy’s understanding of and connection with design for broadcast is impressive. But, his agency’s recent push into the interactive space is what led to the relationship with Rival Schools.

Additionally, Rival Schools will work with recently launched Ashy brainchild Stratagem, a consultancy of some of the brightest strategic talents in the intersecting worlds of marketing and media technology.
